Using fresh, local ingredients, cooking from scratch and providing nutrition education in schools are all essential to our mission.
We’ve learned from experience that visiting schools and engaging students directly has a profound effect on school lunch participation and ensuring students choose healthy food.
We rely on grants, sponsorships, and individual donations to fund our nutrition education and outreach efforts.

School Meal Debt Project
BVSD policy dictates that students coming through the school lunch line will be provided with a complete school meal regardless of their meal account balance. Food Services staff does not discuss money with students, nor will they identify students with negative account balances in any way. Regardless of their financial status, BVSD believes that every student deserves daily access to fresh, flavorful and nutritious food made with wholesome and when possible local ingredients.
