A Message from Chef Ann

Culinary Center groundbreaking

While school staff and students took time off over Winter Break, construction crews at the new Culinary Center were hard at work. The exterior walls and roof are in place and workers are constructing interior walls and installing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. The Center will have larger freezers, coolers and dry storage, resulting in nearly 5,000 square feet of food storage in the new facility. All this food storage capacity will allow BVSD to increase the amount of food the district can purchase in bulk, thereby reducing costs. Read more...

We are disappointed about the end of the free school meals for all students, which Congress enacted during the pandemic.

Despite efforts on the national and state levels, the free meal program for all students will not be extended into the 2022-23 school year. We have heard from many of you who have realized the value of school meals in both cost and time savings, and hope that you will continue to participate in our scratch-cooked and nationally recognized school meal program.

How to Fund Your Student’s Meal Account

Set up a payment account with to ensure that your student always has money for school lunch or breakfast. It’s fast and free to use. Visit the BVSD Meal Accounts webpage for more information and to set up your student’s account.

We recommend setting up auto-payment, so that if your child’s account falls below a certain set value, it will automatically add funds.

Important Note: If you had auto-payment established in past years, you will need to re-establish it this year within MyPaymentsPlus.

Very Important Information for all Students and Caregivers

Students will be required to enter their Student Pin Number of 6 digits into a pin pad in the cafeteria in order to receive a school meal, regardless of their status as a student receiving paid, free or reduced meals. The pin number can be looked up by parents in IC Parent/Portal, by clicking on 'More,' then ‘Student ID and Account’. It is also the number that is included in students’ account password for PK-4 students (passwords also contain some letters - the pin for the cafeteria is only the number portion of the students’ password). We recommend parents print and complete this pin pad template to help their students practice entering their number before the start of the school year.

Apply for Free and Reduced Meals

We strongly encourage families to apply for the Free and Reduced Meal program to see if students in their households can qualify for free school meals based on income. More information and access to the application is available here: If you have questions or need help with your application, please contact Lola Campos-Herzfeld via email or phone at 720-561-5942.

Colorado Ballot Initiative on Free School Meals this Fall

This November, Coloradoans will have the opportunity to vote on whether they would like to provide universally free school meals to all Colorado students starting in the 2023-24 school year. Regardless of where you stand on the issue, I hope you will carefully consider your vote and the impact it could have on our state’s students.

Solicite alimentos gratis y reducidos
