Student ambassador handbook

Meet the Team!

STUDENTS: WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF OUR MISSION?
Accepting All 6-12th grade students across the BVSD FOR OUR SFP Student Ambassadors!

SFP Student Ambassadors will work with the School Food Project team to design campaigns, create outreach materials, deep dive into informal research & lead student-driven initiatives that support a healthier and more sustainable lunch culture.

Our district has the privilege of serving scratch-cooked meals and sources 40% of our ingredients locally. This means our lunch program is not just feeding students — it is actively supporting 3 sustainability pillars:
1. Environmental (lower carbon footprint, reduced packaging, etc.)
2. Social (reducing overly processed foods, free meals for all students)
3. Economic (keeping $ in the local economy, supporting farmers)

But many students don’t know this story. They don’t know how impactful their lunch tray really is — for their health, their energy, their community, and their planet. We need students to help tell that story. We need them to help influence peers through changing campus culture!

  • Student Benefits:
  • Counts toward Seal of Climate Literacy volunteer hours
  • Certificate + recognition letter for resumes, college, & scholarship applications
  • Opportunity to make a measurable impact on your school
