Community Events

With more than 12,000 plants, you can take home your garden staples and try something new. Heirloom and greenhouse varieties, too. All plants were organically grown with help from BVSD staff, students and community members.

100% of proceeds support nutrition education and farm to school programming for BVSD’s 31,000 students.

Presented by the BVSD School Food Project, with generous support from the USDA farm to School Program. The 2026 Plant  Sale will take place:

• Friday, May 8, noon-4pm (BVSD Staff only) and 4-6 p.m.
• Saturday, May 9, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Saturday, May 16, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: The BVSD Greenhouse. (6600 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder)

Annual Iron Chef Competitions offer our middle school students the opportunity to demonstrate their culinary creativity and cook what they want to eat for school lunch.

The competition takes place every spring. BVSD Iron Chef teams must create a dish that is not only delicious and nutritious, but also meets the USDA guidelines and stays at or under the $2/plate price allocation. Teams can win money for culinary and nutrition programs in their schools and the winning recipe will become a featured item on the following year's school lunch menu!
